I would like to present some terrible news:

I work at The Colorado Humane Society as many of you know. Over the past two years that this company has been opened in the city of Colorado Springs there has been a constant political battle with the previous (and currently) existing humane society, Pikes Peak Humane Society. As it stands now, we manage the "city" animals and they manage the "county" animals. We work out of a garage and two small kennels. The facility cannot maintain proper temperature, and is not large enough to house as many animals as it does. Regardless, we have fifty great employees who all would do anything in their power to help save animals lives. However, none of that seems to matter because the city of Colorado Springs has decided that our shelter is not meeting the requirements and that any good we do, is worthless. With that said, our contract is said to end in December of this year.
I was informed today that The Colorado Humane Society is being shut down on Friday, July 22nd, almost six months early. Not only will fifty employees be put out of jobs, but hundreds of animals lives are dependent on the caring population of this city. They have told us that any animal that does not get adopted out in this next week will be put to sleep. Innocent animals are being victimized because of greed and power.

This next week is crucial. Do what you can, please, I am begging you. We will be continue to do everything in our power, to place as many animals in fit homes that we can.
As far as I know we are open from nine to six on all week days and nine to five on saturday. I would not however, be surprised if we are having different hours to accomodate more people for this week.

We are located on 616 Abbott Lane, near the 8th street WalMart. It's the garage around back of the large spruced up shelter. The phone number is 227-7387.
Chelsea and I will be working almost all week; so please, call, come by and tell everyone you know.
